House Of The Dragon: George R.R. Martin Won’t Write Any Episodes Until The Winds Of Winter Is Done

We lost Bloodmoon, but gained House of the Dragon. The new an only Game of Thrones prequel moving forward at HBO received a 10-episode order yesterday. Creator George R.R. Martin will, of course be involved, but his participation will be limited until he finishes the long-awaited next entry into his A Song Of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter

Martin took to his blog to reveal while he would like to ideally like to pen an episode of the Targaryen prequel, his main priority is the long-overdue novel. You can check out what he had to say below.

“I expect to be involved in all of this to some extent… and, who knows, if things work out, I may even be able to script a few episodes, as I did for the first four seasons of GAME OF THRONES. But… let me make this perfectly clear… I am not taking on any scripts until I have finished and delivered WINDS OF WINTER.  Winter is still coming, and WINDS remains my priority, as much as I’d love to write an episodes of HOUSE.”

As most fans know, Martin’s end to his epic will be similar to what happened on the HBO series, however, we should expect significant changes in the events leading up to the end. I really wish we were getting a series about Aegon’s Conquest and his uniting of the Seven Kingdoms, that being said I am still excited to see the Targareyn civil war play out on screen.
