UPDATE: While on Ellen Degeneres’ show, Harrison Ford backpedaled a bit on when they were shooting, but he confirmed it’s happening.
“I can deny that it’s not happening…I don’t know, we hope to start soon. This summer. This late summer.”
ORIGINAL STORY:
The upcoming fifth installment to the Indiana Jones franchise is a film that hopes to bring the series back to its glory days. The last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn’t sit well with many fans. While it surely comes in at number four on my Indy list, I didn’t think it was a bad a lot of fans.
Dr. Jones himself, Harrison Ford recently spoke with CBSNews, and during the interview, he casually mentions that he is set to start shooting the fifth movie in a couple of months.
“I’m going to start doing Indiana Jones in about two months.”

Usually, this is where the grain of salt comes in, but coming from Ford, I would think this is accurate. That being said, last year, he did say they were going to start production “next week,” but he was corrected after the fact to mean “next year.” But…it is “next year,” so maybe he’s right this time? If so, it shouldn’t be too much longer before at least some details about the film are released, including additional cast members and the basic plot of the film.
When Harrison Ford decides to hang up the fedora and whip, there’s really only one story to be told — Indy finds the fountain of youth. At the end of the film, while fighting with the villain, Dr. Jones falls into the fountain, and when he comes out, he is the actor that has been chosen to take over the role, boom!.
Indiana Jones 5 has a release date of July 9, 2021.
