Is Idris Elba In Thor: Love And Thunder?

Is Idris Elba in Thor: Love and Thunder? One would have assumed that was a no, considering Elba’s character is pretty dead in the MCU. Yes, I know Loki is still alive, but those circumstances were different and involved time meddling. Elba’s Heimdall was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, so that was that as far as I was concerned. However, if Heimdall is dead, what is Idris Elba doing in Australia with Thor: Love and Thunder director Taiki Waititi?

Much of the Thor: Love and Thunder cast have been quarantining in Australia ahead of filming which is expected to begin January. Well, according to this Instagram post from Waititi, so is Idris Elba.

In normal days this would be no big deal. Perhaps Elba was invited over to watch the Rugby game with his old friend? However, in the current lockdown climate, that’s just not a reasonable possibility. I just don’t see how Elba gets to Australia right now unless it is for work reasons. It is possible Elba is there to work on something else, but if so I don’t know what? I think the most likely conclusion based on the evidence is that Elba is in Thor: Love and Thunder.

How and why Heimdall may return is anyone’s guess at this point. However, Thor: Love and Thunder already has quite the cast. Not only is Portman coming back as Lady Thor, we also have Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel currently in quarantine and expected to feature, as well as Christian Bale as the villain of the movie. For all we know, the Heimdall content could be in flashback form, therefore requiring Elba’s presence. However, there could also be some Multiverse shenanigans going on, given what is set to to happen soon in the MCU.
