Is Lucasfilm Bringing Young Obi-Wan And Satine Kryze To The Kenobi Series? | LRM’s Barside Buzz

Could we see a young Kenobi and Satine Kryze in the upcoming Disney+ series? Last week The Illuminerdi made the announcement that the Kenobi series is casting a “young caucasian girl and boy between the ages of 8-11 to portray a precocious girl and boy”. Most have assumed that this casting call is for a young Luke and Leia Skywalker and Obi-Wan will somehow be interacting with both of them in the series.  While this theory has been popping around since the show was first announced, it just seemed too simple of a story.

That is when I started to do some research and look at different stories the Kenobi series could be going deeper into. From what I personally know about the series and doing some research I think that this casting is for a young Kenobi and Satine Kryze. I do know that this series will focus primarily on Obi-Wan and the events that lead him to Tatooine.  The series will have a lot of flashback sequences. The age of the casting seems about right for when Kenobi was on Mandalore as a padawan protecting Satine while escaping bounty hunters.

When I asked my source at Lucasfilm of my theory they would neither confirm or deny my theory.  What they would only tell me is that the main storyline is focusing on Kenobi and not the Skywalkers.  While the movies didn’t really dive into Kenobi’s background before the Prequels, The Clone Wars animated series did give us more insight.  It was during a mission on Mandalore that Kenobi expresses to Anakin he fell in love with Satine. It was when he was a young Palawan during a rescue mission to protect Satine. At the end of the mission he chose the Jedi Order over his feelings for Satine. Later in the series, we see the horrific death of Satine by Darth Maul in front of Kenobi where they both profess their love for each other.

There are a couple of things that make it seem less likely that the casting is for a young Luke and Leia.  First Luke and Leia had no idea of each other in A New Hope until the rescue on the Death Star. Also, in Return of The Jedi, Luke discovers that Leia is his sister only after Yoda and Obi-Wan tell him. If they have any interaction as 8-11-year-olds in the Kenobi series it will make the original trilogy story a little more complicated.

To further complicate the story we already see Leia heavily involved in the rebellion during the second season of Star Wars Rebels. Also, in the Rebel series after the final duel with Darth Maul, we see Kenobi keeping tabs on a young Luke Skywalker. It is implied in this scene and in the original trilogy that Kenobi doesn’t have a lot of interactions with Luke prior to the rescue of Leia on the Death Star.

Now, it could be all for nothing and I am way off.  But having a young Luke and Leia in the series just seems to simple for this series. What we do know is that this series story has been changed many times to make it more diverse than the other Star Wars series. What do you all think? Would it be better to see the upcoming series go back into Kenobi’s past or focus on keeping the Skywalker twins safe?
