Is The Wu-Tang Clan Working On A Batman Project With DC?

The Wu-Tang Clan is easily one of the greatest hip-hop groups in music history. Originating from the New York City borough of Staten Island, The 9-man group (until the passing of Ol’ Dirty Bastard) is responsible for some of the most influential and controversial musical epics ever to flow through speakers and headphones. Their multi-platinum albums “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” and “Wu-Tang Forever earned the group the mantle of rap standard bearers and solidified them as musical revolutionaries.

And now, it seems they’re setting up shop in Gotham City.

On Tuesday morning, the group’s Twitter account made a very intriguing post. A post that caught the eye of Batman fans and hip-hop fans alike. The image features Batman looking down over Gotham with the Bat-Signal in the background—but in the place of the Bat was the Wu-Tang logo. Additionally, Batman’s utility belt buckle features the Wu-Tang logo on it.

While the post has created a curious stir, there is no other information released regarding the project. Therefore, fans are left to speculate as to what it could be. Is RZA and/or others in the group writing a story arch? Will Batman play a part in their next album? Are they supplying the soundtrack that a reader can listen to while reading the upcoming arch, a tactic Quentin Tarantino used when he supplied a Spotify Playlist for each issue of his Django/Zorro trade?

This wouldn’t be the first time the Wu-Tang Clan has been involved in the comics world. Their music was featured in the first season of the Netflix series Marvel’s Luke Cage, as well as WuTang member Method Man’s original track for the series, “Bulletproof Love.” The group also released a track with The Lox in 2012 titled “Batman” and some have pointed out that the new actor to portray the Caped Crusader, Robert Pattinson, happens to be a big fan of the group.

Yet, as of right now, all fans can do is sit back and ponder what the hip-hop legends have in store for the Dark Knight—while potentially reliving the group’s iconic contributions to hip-hop via their favorite music streaming service.
