Some of you may remember some really silly movies from the decade of the 1980s. Silly movies about some bumbling cops who manage to save the day anyway. Yes, I am talking about the Police Academy franchise.
According to actor Steve Guttenberg, who played Sgt. Mahoney in several of the films, we may have a reboot on the way. Guttenberg took to his Twitter account to make the announcement. While the details are scarce, Guttenberg seems pretty confident that a new Police Academy film is in the works.

Growing up in the 80s, I have seen all of these films at one time or another, they’re goofy sure, but sometimes there wasn’t a lot of choices of what to watch. How eight films in this franchise were greenlit, I may never fully understand. The original films included a wild cast of characters which, along with Guttenberg, included for NFL star Bubba Smith as Hightower, comedian and director Bobcat Goldthwait as former criminal turned cop Zed, as well as fan favorite and trigger happy officer Eugene Tackleberry played by David Graf. While I won’t be anxiously awaiting this film, I mean, I will have to check it out at some point right? Just for funsies?
