Are you excited for IT: Chapter 2? You should be, because it won’t be long until the sequel to last year’s unexpected hit begins production! We’ve reported in the past about potential shoot dates for the film, but the most recent one stated that June 18 was the day things would start. That’s not too far off from the truth, but it’s not quite accurate.
Producer Roy Lee emailed IndieWire, and in it, he confirmed that they would begin shooting the movie in Toronto this July. He also gave an overall update of their status, saying, “The script is still being finalized and the locations are currently being scouted in anticipation of shooting then.”

If you somehow didn’t check out that first movie, it’s worth knowing that it only told half of the 1,200-page story that Stephen King first wrote decades ago. While that novel hopped back and forth between the kid and adult timelines, the first film only followed the leads as children. The next one will follow them all as adults.
There’s still a lot to look forward to from this film, announcement-wise. Jessica Chastain was confirmed to be taking on the adult version of Beverly Marsh, but that still leaves the rest of the Losers’ Club to get cast. And on that note, there is another report from THR stating that SNL alum Bill Hader and X-Men star James McAvoy are in talks to star.
Hader would take on the adult role of wise-cracking Richard Tozier, played by Finn Wolfhard in IT: Chapter 1, and McAvoy would play Bill Denbrough, the unofficial leader of the Losers’ Club, who was portrayed by Jaeden Lieberher in the first film.
