Star Wars: This Connection Between A New Hope & The Last Jedi Is Crazy Cool!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a bold move for Lucasfilm. It managed to take an established franchise and let it go off in a completely unexpected direction. For the first time since The Empire Strikes Back, I got a Star Wars film that actually managed to surprise me, and all of a sudden, no one in the film (or the franchise) was safe. Of course, not everyone holds the same opinion, and I’m sure plenty of you reading this now are ready to head to the comments to tell me how wrong I am, but that’s neither here nor there.

Amid all the naysaying from fans and the rave reviews from critics, you may have missed an interesting connection between the film and Star Wars: A New Hope. No, not just the cast, or some of the more shallow aspects, but one that literally takes one aspect of the first film and turns it on its head. One fan took to Twitter to share this connection.

For those who can’t see the tweet for one reason or another, in A New Hope, Leia sends a projection to Obi-Wan Kenobi asking for help, and in The Last Jedi, Luke sends a projection of himself to help Leia and the rest of the Resistance.

Whether intentional or not, this is quite the poetic connection, and really illustrates something that’s only possible in a long-running series like this. Did you notice this connection, and do you think it was intentional? Let us know your thoughts down below!
