IT Star Wants To Play Miles Morales In The MCU

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe hitting its tenth year and the addition of new characters, fans have been speculating as to what new characters may be on the way. With the success of characters like Guardians Of The Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the eventual additions of Captain Marvel and Nova, keeping the cast list fresh enables Marvel to continue to tell new stories. Moreover, characters of alternate realities in the comics can be worked in with the current MCU story.

One of those very popular characters that could be featured is the Miles Morales Spider-Man. Created in 2011 by writer Brian Michael Bendis, artist Sara Pichelli and Marvel then-editor-in-chief Axel Alonso, Morales is a young Afro-Latino teen who dons the Spider-Man costume soon after the death of Peter Parker in the Ultimate Fallout comics run. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Donald Glover’s character Aaron Davis explains to Spider-Man that he has a nephew in the neighborhood, leading many to believe that could have been a shout-out to Morales, especially since Glover is one of the inspirations Bendis and Alonso had for Morales.

And now, a young actor has expressed interest in playing the character, if the MCU were to include him.

Chosen Jacobs, who starred in 2017’s IT as well as episodes of Hawaii 5-0, made his interest known to ComicBook.com regarding portraying Miles Morales. He quickly stated:

“Miles Morales. That would be awesome. Spider-Man, that would be really cool. Especially, too, because they’ve already done the Peter Parker Spider-Man, I feel like Miles Morales would be a cool Spider-Man to tackle.”

Jacobs would already have the support of the current web-slinger, as Tom Holland has previously expressed his stance on seeing Morales on the big screen.

“Miles Morales is another version of Spider-Man, and he is super cool. And he has different powers to Spider-Man, similar powers, and their storylines are intertwined… I’d love to work with Miles, I think it would be great. We’ve definitely put the building blocks in. There’s been a few teases in the first film.”

Being referred to in the comics under the alias Kid Arachnid at times and given the current on-screen universe, it wouldn’t be difficult for the MCU to introduce Morales into the fold. It could give Parker the chance to take someone under his wing as Tony Stark did with him and a potential passing of the Spider-Man torch later on. There’s definitely a possibility that Kevin Feige and the creative minds at Marvel are discussing introducing the Morales character. Here’s hoping the young hero gets a shot in the live-action world.
