It’s Showtime! Beetlejuice Documentary Coming Soon

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice is on the shortlist of movies that my daughter and I can watch over and over again. Believe it or not, this American comedy horror-fantasy film is 32 years old! It starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as a couple that has recently died and become ghosts. When a new family moves into “their” house, played by Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder, and they are looking to make radical changes. When they are unsuccessful, they turn to a mischievous poltergeist named Betelgeuse, played by Michael Keaton.

If your as big as a fan of the film like I am, then this upcoming documentary will be right for you! French filmmaker Fred China and producers Adam F. Goldberg and Lee Leshen have teamed up to give us, Documentary for the Recently Deceased. They released a trailer via io9 that you can check out above!

The town looks like it’s been stuck in a time capsule! It would be cool to one day visit the home of Barbara and Adam Maitland in East Corinth, Vermont. The documentary will have interviews with cast, crew, and residents of that town. Along with that, they will have rare behind the scenes footage and images.

At the time of its release, Beetlejuice was both a critical and commercial success grossing over $73 million. Which was great being that it only cost the studios $15 million to make. Then it also took home the Academy Award for Best Makeup. Now the film also has a Broadway musical and is part of a Tim Burton themed bar and restaurant in New York and Los Angeles.

It will no doubt be a fun documentary to watch. Beetlejuice has many memorable moments that I would be interested in knowing more about! Currently, there is no release date for the documentary as filming has halted due to the current pandemic.
