J.J. Abrams Was Super Bummed About Darth Maul In The Phantom Menace

Ahh yes, the prequel trilogy. The much-hated back story to the original Star Wars films has for some time now been the bane of many a Star Wars fans’ existence. While the films have become very valuable as meme templates over the last few years, Disney’s sequel trilogy has also made some fans appreciate the prequels more than they ever thought they would.

Director of the upcoming final installment to the Skywalker saga, J.J. Abrams,  recently spoke on SiriusXM and discussed a different part of the saga, the prequel trilogy. More specifically, his feelings on the exit of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace

“The reason I didn’t love that was only because I remember, the posters would advertise Darth Maul, you know the feeling of, ‘Oh my God,” here we go and then he was over.”

In just about a month, director J.J. Abrams will have closed the book on the Skywalker saga. A story that has played out over four decades will come to a perfect, tight-knit ending with no loose ends, right J.J? While fan expectations are high, it would be nearly impossible to wrap up the sequel trilogy and the saga as a whole in a such a manner, not to mention being naive to expect such a thing.

J.J. also mentions his favorite scene from the prequels, which happens to be one of my favorites as well, is the scene in which Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin have their Plagueis chat, and it really seems to be where Palpatine hooked Anakin into his plan

What’s your favorite scene from the prequels (come on there has to be at least one)? Let us know in the comments down below!
