James Gunn Confirms Episode Count Of Creature Commandos Season 1

In the latest DCU news James Gunn explains Peacemaker Season 1 canon and Alan Tudyk is confirmed as Clayface in Creature Commandos.

In a recent series of posts on Threads, James Gunn confirms the episode count of Creature Commandos Season 1, and says the voice roles have already been recorded. Let’s start with the title news, as Gunn confirms in this post the episode count of Creature Commandos Season 1.

“Creature Commandos Season 1 is 7 episodes.”

Responding to another fan question Here, Gunn also confirmed that all the voice work for the animated show has been finalized already. In a third post of a fan asking whether the soundtrack is going to be awesome? Gunn replied simply,

“Beyond”

Though no dates have been set, it does seem as though we may see Creature Commandos before Superman: Legacy is released in theatres. I’m sure there is plenty of work left to do on Creature Commandos. However, we don’t even have a production start date yet for Superman: Legacy. Ergo, it seems Creature Commandos on Max will be the first official DCU project. The scripts for all Season 1 episodes were written by James Gunn himself.

Creature Commandos stars Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Indira Varma as Bride of Frankenstein, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot and Weasel, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

The story revolves around Amanda Waller putting together a black ops team out of, well, monsters.

I’ve never come across this comic before, so I am eagerly awaiting watching the show fresh and getting to know some of these characters. I still don’t think this will give us the skinny on how the DCU will be portrayed tonally. For me, that will still be defined around Superman: Legacy as animation can skew a little differently. As a fan of Gunn’s work I’m really curious to see how he handles a less comedic movie with Legacy. Whereas I kinda feel like Creature Commandos is firmly within the Gunn wheelhouse he’s used to.

So, James Gunn confirms the episode count of Creature Commandos Season 1, and says the voice roles have already been recorded. What do you think of this news? As always leave any thoughts below.
