James Gunn Confirms The Suicide Squad Has Zero Interference From The Studio, First Look Hits During FanDome

Gunn answers questions about The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad looks to be in good hands — look out for its FanDome first look!

It’s pretty bad when we need confirmation that a studio didn’t horn its way into a production. Warner Bros. has developed a pretty bad reputation within the DC Extended Universe. Between the slimming down of Batman v Superman, the reworking of Justice League, and re-edit of Suicide Squad, it’s clear they had little faith in some of the filmmakers to get craft a film that would reel in the bucks.

Now that they’re further along, though, it looks like they’re learning from their mistakes. Zack Snyder is getting his cut of Justice League, most other filmmakers since Suicide Squad have had solid experiences, and now we have James Gunn. While James Gunn may be fairly new to the big-budget game, he has the voice of a real auteur, and managed to stand out within the MCU. In short, you don’t hire Gunn unless you want Gunn material.

But can we actually expect that? Or will the studio get cold feet and rain down on his vision once again? Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Gunn took to Twitter to confirm that The Suicide Squad will feature his own vision in its full glory.

“I can confirm #TheSuicideSquad is 100%, zero interference, no-holds-barred ME, &, again, I can’t wait for you guys to get a glimpse of it at #DCFanDome. (Yes, I’m pimping FanDome a lot, but that’s because I know how exciting it’s going to be – for my film & other stuff too! Grimacing face)”

But that wasn’t all James Gunn had to share on social media. He also revealed a whole slew of title treatments for The Suicide Squad. Let me just say…I hope you like the color yellow.

We won’t have much longer to hang tight. Gunn promised that he had a lot more to show audiences on August 22, when we get to witness the DC FanDome. Well, at least we can confirm the show will feature The Suicide Squad. After the disappointing film from David Ayer, this will be a good palate cleanser for fans. After all, it’s a great concept that was treated poorly in that first movie.

Oh yeah, and how crazy would it be if we got a trailer for The Suicide Squad in addition to an announcement for the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad?

Yeah, sounds dumb, but I’d be all for it! How excited are you to learn more about The Suicide Squad during the FanDome event? Sound off down below!
