James Gunn Debunks Ultraman Rumors For Superman – Sorta

One new piece of DCU casting news to share as it seems Pruitt Taylor Vince has been cast as Jonathan Kent in James Gunn's Superman.

In a social media post this weekend James Gunn debunks the latest Ultraman rumors for Superman, well sorta. As you likely know, some rumors began that Superman would face an evil clone of himself within Superman. This clone was made by Lex Luthor and was not Bizzaro, but supposedly like Ultraman. We shared the rumor as you can see below. However, James Gunn then came out with this statement in Threads in response to the rumors.

“The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all the stuff is coming from that it’s something other than this. There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and everytime I strike something down I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?)”

To be fair, Gunn pointing out who the main protagonist and antagonist are, does not actually rule out a clone. However, I think the implication is pretty direct if nothing else. One leaker MTTSH then went as far as to call Gunn out for lying. The leaker claims she has seen images of Ultraman from the movie.

Never a good idea to go full ‘call the head of DC’ a liar if you ask me. But hey, I aint the internet police.

Be interesting to see how this one plays out. This is not the first time a leaker has got into an argument with James Gunn about his movies. Last time it did not bode well for the leaker, but you never know, right? /s!

I think we have to go with Gunn on this one. However, it is possible though not the main villain. Lex does have a clone of Superman for him to defeat in the end of the movie. After all, Superman needs something to show off his powers. There are many other possibilities though. It is rather strange why several leakers all got this info around the same time. It could mean either there is a genuine leak on Superman, or that one incorrect leaker was backed up by mistake by others. That happens in the leak game also.

What do you think of this story as James Gunn debunks the latest Ultraman rumors for Superman, sorta? As always, leave any thoughts below.
