James Gunn has been on social media talking Peacemaker Season 2 and he says he has a ‘way in’ to explain how Season 2 is set in the DCU. Gunn also confirmed we will be getting a brand new intro sequence in Season 2, which he is writing just now. As you likely know Peacemaker Season 1 was firmly set in the DCEU. Canonical to The Suicide Squad and references DCEU heroes and events. However, the DCU is the new replacement and yet still we are getting Peacemaker Season 2.
Some fans had some questions for Gunn on Threads and whilst he is careful with them, we do get some answers.
Gunn confirmed to a fan that he was writing Episode 6 that day.
“Writing episode 6 today.”
Gunn was then asked if Season 2 would have the same fantastic opening sequence?
“Different opening. Equally magnificent.”
Gunn was then asked how Season 2 will work in the DCU when Season 1 was set in the DCEU?
“You’ll have to wait and see.”
One fan then asked Gunn why not just create a whole new show instead of making a Peacemaker Season 2?
“Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in. It won’t be confusing.”

I see Gunn’s point as a fan. Peacemaker may be my favorite Gunn project overall. I love the Guardians movies, especially the first one which was my fave of the three, and I loved The Suicide Squad. However, Peacemaker was just a phenomenal series. Therefore, I’ll accept whatever this ‘way in’ is even if it’s rubbish just to get Season 2. It kinda just doesn’t bother me and the change for me is a positive one. From now on, if the Justice League needs to show up in Peacemaker, hopefully it’s David Corsenswet as Superman and whoever else gets cast in the main JL roles.
None of this just having the backs of peoples heads nonsense like we got in Season 1.
