James Gunn has left his mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe making The Guardians of the Galaxy a household name. He will also leave his mark on the world of DC when the sort of reboot of Suicide Squad is released.
Before diving into the superhero genre, Gunn brought another beloved property to the screen, Scooby-Doo. Gunn wrote both of the live-action films back in the early 2000s. A fan recently asked Gunn on Twitter if a Scooby-Doo/Guardians spin-off was a possibility. You can check out what he had to say below.

The idea of the Mystery Inc. gang teaming up with the Suicide Squad is, at the very least, interesting, I don’t see how it would work. The squad is much too dark to work with the more or less wholesome Scooby-Doo crew. However, the Guardians could fit quite nicely into the Scooby’s world. Unfortunately, as Gunn said above, being owned by different companies, this is unlikely to happen.
The world of DC is making big moves, bringing back as many actors as they can from previous bog-screen adventures for the upcoming Flash film. WB/DC has had a string of recent hits with the studio’s last few films including Wonder Woman, Shazam!, and Aquaman, being accepted by both fans and critics. This makes Gunn’s The Suicide Squad all the more important for DC, as surely they want to continue.
