In order to counter some misinformation that was revealed last week James Gunn has come out to say Creature Commandos is coming in 2024 after all. As you are aware, we covered some information from an official panel looking at what is coming to Max across the next years or so. Whilst Creature Commandos wasn’t mentioned a presentation by the animation team working on the show did mention 2025. Since then however Gunn has clarified this was a miscommunication and insists the show releases in 2024.

So we have clarity from director, writer and studio boss James Gunn. Gunn went on in some replies to reiterate that Creature Commandos was almost completely unaffected by the recent strikes. Animation was not covered by the strikes. However, even then, all the voice work was complete on this series prior to the strikes even beginning. The series is now in the hands of the animators and Gunn as director.

Animation isn’t part of the SAG contract, but it still doesn’t matter as everyone’s lines have been recorded for a long time, and animation has been going full speed ahead for a while.

For now what we have no idea of is when in 2024 Creature Commandos is due to hit Max. The show was not listed on that 2024 Max slate we shared (related link above). Hence why it was assumed the animators were right by saying 2025. Oh well, Creature Commandos will release next year folks, we just don’t know exactly when.

Creature Commandos will be the first official project that takes place in the new DCU created by DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. Followed up by the first live-action project which will be Superman: Legacy also written and directed by Gunn.

As for after that? We have Batman: Brave and the Bold, probably directed by Andy Muschietti. However, it has no writer currently. Though that may have changed if we trust the mods on Reddit Sub r/DCEUleaks. They say they have information that John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Skyfall) is in talks to write the script. We’ll see how those talks go and upfate you if we heard anything.
