No plans for Guardians of the Galaxy 4? Read on for more details.
I was happy when James Gunn was rehired to completed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It feels right that Gunn should get to finish the trilogy he started. Gunn is currently working on The Suicide Squad during lockdown. However, the director has been keeping fans entertained by remaining active on social media.
Gunn did one of his Instagram Q&A’s this weekend, thanks to Comic Book.com for the details. Gunn was asked by one fan if he had plans to make Guardians 4, seen as he originally said he wouldn’t make Guardians 2. Here was Gunn’s response.
“I absolutely never said I wouldn’t do a Vol 2, as I planned to do a trilogy from the beginning if the first one worked. I have no plans to do a Vol 4.”
Not sure where the fan got Gunn saying he wouldn’t make a sequel from? I did, however, expect we would not see a fourth Guardians movie. Or, at least not with that team, and Gunn as writer/director. It is possible Marvel could bring in a new team at some point farther down the line though.

Gunn also mentioned that there would be at least one character death in the movie. Gunn also confirmed that Kraglin would have a larger role in Guardians 3. Kraglin (played by Gunn’s brother, Sean), was with the Guardians team at the end of the second film. However, he did not appear in either Avengers: Infinity War, nor Endgame. Gunn was present for both movies as he also plays Rocket, and he did actually film an Endgame scene in his Kraglin outfit. Sadly, this shot was left on the cutting room floor, after all, Endgame had a pretty busy finale.
