UPDATE: In addition to the Facebook post in the original story, James Gunn posted an update via Twitter regarding GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 wrapping. You can check that out directly below:

Also, actor Chris Pratt took to Instagram to show a couple of shots of him alongside his stunt double on set.

For a while, it seemed like Marvel Studios and Disney were done with San Diego Comic-Con. Last year, they dodged the con altogether in favor of their own D23 convention, which highlighted all of Disney’s upcoming films, including your standard Marvel fare. However, with D23 not happening this year, it was a big question of whether or not there’d be a showing of anything Marvel at the famous con.

About a week ago, it was teased by directors Scott Derrickson and James Gunn (who helmed DOCTOR STRANGE and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, respectively) via Twitter that they’d both be heading to SDCC with their respective projects.

Now, following the wrap of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, We now have official confirmation via James Gunn’s Facebook account. You can check out his statement and video below!

“We, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, are coming to SDCC this year. We’re gonna be there. I’m gonna be there. Chris Pratt is gonna be there. A bunch of the gang is gonna be there. And we’re gonna show you guys something pretty cool.”

As GUARDIANS 2 and DOCTOR STRANGE are Marvel’s films closest to their release, it’s a given they’d be the ones to hog the spotlight, but we all know that 2017 marks a big milestone for the studio, as it will be the first to boast 3 films (although technically SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is still technically a Sony joint). As such, it would be no surprise if the studio were to give us even the smallest of teases of what’s to come after GUARDIANS.

What do you think of this confirmation? Let us know what you want to see from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con!
