Rumors have been flying around the movie news world recently having to do with the long awaited reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Just a few days ago information surfaced regarding a character breakdown for the film. An entirely new character was set to be the lead of the film according to the breakdown, fan favorites such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Johnny Cage were curiously absent from the list. A day later a producer on the film debunked the character breakdown saying that no work was currently being done on the film.
Director James Wan, who is currently attached to the reboot took to Twitter to tell fans not to believe everything they read on the internet.

The franchise is deserving of something better than the two films that currently exist, and I think James Wan is an excellent choice to bring fans that something. It just seems like this project is never going to get off the ground, or I could just be an impatient fanboy. The Mortal Kombat universe is rich enough and ful lof enough lore to bring both an action packed film with a good story.
