Jamie Foxx’s Since Deleted Instagram Post Talked Changes To New Electro

Yesterday a rumor made it’s way around the movie news world saying that Jamie Foxx would be reprising his villain character Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Anyone who has watched the film knows that Electro died at the end (spoiler schmoiler, it’s been long enough). Electro also faced a different Spider-Man in Andrew Garfield.

While no official word has come down from Marvel or Sony confirming Foxx’s return, but if it is true, it seems his only path to return would him playing a version of Electro from a different universe. Which I am all for, lets go ahead and open that door. While neither studio has given an official statement,  Foxx himself posted on his Instagram account (the post has since been removed) talking about supposed changes that will be part of this new version of the character. You can check it out below.

“Tell Spidey let’s run it back! Super excited to part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new installment… can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent badass!!!”

Why not?

Many folks are unhappy with this idea, including quite a few writers here at LRM. I enjoyed Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, I am more excited about the prospect of Jami Foxx working with Marvel, and becoming part of their Cinematic Universe, even if it kind of has an asterisk by it. Do I wish he would have been cast as another character? Probably so, but Kevin Feige is pretty good at what he does, so I will reserve judgment, at least for now.

ComicBookMovie did some digging through some documents from when Sony was hacked a few years ago, and found and found that Feige watched an early cut of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. What he had to say adds more credence to Foxx’s return being real. You can check it out below..

“Really love Electro. [Feels] like you may not need the scene in his apartment, which makes him [seem] completely crazy and hard to relate too…Like the idea that eel goes in his mouth and instead of burrowing, you see it glow within him.”
