John Favreau Reveals The Book Of Boba Fett Details

James Mangold DID flirt with a Boba Fett movie. The director also says he views his upcoming Star Wars and Swamp Thing movies as standalone.

In a recent interview with Empire Online for their coverage of the upcoming show. John Favreau reveals The Book of Boba Fett details that fans should be aware of going into the show. Of course the teaser trailer has already provided us a few clues as to where The Book of Boba Fett‘s story is going. Whilst not adding much, Favreau does explain the situation that Fett finds himself in at the beginning of the series.

“There is a power vacuum,” explains Favreau, “because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre.”

“Although Boba Fett is a very experienced bounty hunter, he’s not experienced at running a criminal syndicate or managing forces,” Favreau says. “He’s not normally a newcomer. He’s an expert as we see him in most areas. But in this case, he’s trying to transition to another position.”

Producer and also director of at least one episode Robert Rodriguez added.

“We’ll see a lot more of his true character in this season. And you’ll definitely see him have to turn ‘barbarian mode’.”

Very interesting. Just a nice bit of detail that leans into the very brief snippets we have already seen in the trailer. My guess, and that’s all it is, is that that trailer only showed us footage from the first 1-3 episodes. Both The Mandalorian Season 1 and 2 have employed a similar trailer style. Of course that remains to be seen but we are also expecting a few familiar faces to show up. Not just Bounty Hunters, although LRM has found out both Bossk and Cad Bane will appear in the show.

I cant wait to see the show on December 29th. What do you think of his comments as John Favreau reveals The Book of Boba Fett details? All thoughts below as always.
