Jon Favreau Talks Reasoning For Reuniting Mando And Grogu In Boba Fett

Latest Barside Buzz says Season 4 of The Mandalorian could be 6 episodes long with the finale being The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.

Jon Favreau talks through his reasoning for reuniting Mando and Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett. Favreau is currently on the publicity trail for The Mandalorian Season 3. The third season premieres on Disney+ March 1st, which is now just a week away. There are some who questioned the decision to end Season 2 with the separation of Mando and Grogu, only to have them reunited in a different show.

You can catch the full video below and hear what Favreau said for yourself. However after describing how the process at Marvel evolved since he saw it begin, Favreau says that’s where the idea came from. Previously Favreau has talked about how this MandoVerse is all interconnected, and he once compared it to Game of Thrones if there was several different shows telling the same story.

The main thing that gave Favreau confidence was how closely fans have followed all the minute details of the MCU. Favreau was convinced Star Wars fans would accept having chapters inserted for other characters that make up this overall story. It therefore allowed him to place those scenes into The Book of Boba Fett, knowing the fanbase would follow. However the Mandalorian creator also said they have recaps planned for Season 3. Perhaps for a more casual audience who didn’t catch Book of Boba Fett? Favreau also pointed out that the benefit of Disney+ is, someone can go and just watch those relevant Mando 2.5 episodes if they wish.

To be honest I was fine with the decision to have Mando take over Boba Fett for a couple episodes. My issues with Boba Fett were more that those two episodes were the best of the series as a whole. Episode 6 in particular was excellent and likely as good as any Star Wars content since the OT. We jokingly refer to those two episodes as Mando 2.5. However I would not give a damn if the rest of Boba Fett had been a dark criminal empire story. Instead it felt like I was watching Spy Kids at points.
