Keke Palmer makes her return to the big screen in Alice. A film written and directed by Krystin Ver Linden.
The Synopsis
Alice (Keke Palmer, “Hustlers”) yearns for freedom as an enslaved person on a rural Georgia plantation. After a violent clash with its brutal and disturbed owner, Paul (Jonny Lee Miller, “AEon Flux” ), she flees through the neighboring woods and stumbles onto the unfamiliar sight of a highway, soon discovering the year is actually 1973. Rescued on the roadside by a disillusioned political activist named Frank (Common, “Wanted”), Alice quickly comprehends the lies that have kept her in bondage and the promise of Black liberation. Inspired by true events, Alice is a modern empowerment story tracing Alice’s journey through the post-Civil Rights Era American South.
The singer, actress and television personality Keke Palmer made her debut playing the niece of Queen Latifah in Barbershop 2: Back In Business. The following year Atlantic Records offered the first record deal. Her big break was in Akeelah and Bee from which she won awards. Palmer was the protagonist in the Nickelodeon sitcom, True Jackson, VP and performer of the theme song. The last couple of years she has focused on her acting career and has been seen in Star, Scream: The TV Series, Pimp, Hustlers and later this summer’s Nope release.
I was able to connect with Keke Palmer to talk about Alice. She discussed getting to play an emotional character and how draining it can be. In addition to being involved as executive producer, getting to work with Common and more!
Alice will be in theaters March 18, 2022
