Kevin Smith has a top-secret project up his sleeves.

Kevin Smith. Though the dude is a textbook stoner, he manages to be one of the most productive outward stoners under the sun. He always seems to be juggling 150 different little jobs. From podcasting and showrunning to filmmaking and live events, he’s never not working. In the midst of COVID, he’s even managed to have a bunch of little projects scattered across the interwebs. Now, it sounds like he has another big one he’s eager to share.

Smith took to Twitter to post a mysterious little video. In it, we see Smith walk toward the camera into what looks like an empty storefront. He looks around, takes off his Mooby’s COVID mask, and says “I think this is the place” with a wink to the camera. The video then cuts to black with a question mark in the middle of the screen.

But what in the world can he be teasing? In all honesty, my first thought was a new Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash storefront. It has the look of a place that could be a comics shop, but there is one big strike against that. For one, I’m not sure it’s super smart or profitable to open a comics shop in 2021, especially since we still don’t know the trajectory of the pandemic yet. 

Plus, Smith doesn’t strike me as someone who would knowingly put people in any sort of danger. Of course, he could just be buying a storefront in hopes of launching it late next year after this has all passed, but it’d seem weird to tease it now.

Another possibility is a tease for another film. Namely, Smith has been teasing Twilight of the Mallrats. For all we know, this place could serve as a main location of the film. Maybe another of Brodie’s stores? Some fans are also speculating Clerks III, but who knows, right?
