Last November comic book legend Stan Lee sadly left this world, but the legacy he left will stand the test of time. Creating many of Marvel’s most beloved heroes, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther, and the Incredible Hulk, Lee was considered royalty among nerd communities.

Writer and director Kevin Smith, who himself is a lifelong nerd and comic book fan is set to be a presenter at a tribute to Lee, the man who brought joy to so many people around the world. The event is titled, “Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible & Uncanny Life of Stan Lee,” and will take place January 30 at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre. Gil Champion, Stan Lee’s partner in POW! Entertainment had the following to say.

“Stan was a unique and unforgettable human being, truly adored worldwide. He loved coming to work and creating endless new ideas and stories and in spite of his genius he was a relatable and kind man that his admirers could relate to with ease. He will be dearly missed and his legacy will live on now and for many more generations to come.”

I can’t think of a better choice to host the event than Kevin Smith. After all, he is one of the Comic Book Men. While I’ve never met Smith, watching his podcasts and interviews, he seems like one of us, a fanboy, one that went on to direct films in Hollywood, but is still a normal guy, and should be able to deliver the heartfelt tribute Lee deserves.

Smith will speak with Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool, as well as Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. Tickets will be available for fans beginning today with listed prices at $150 and $200.
