In a recent interview actor Kurt Russell comments on those Jor-El casting rumors for Superman: Legacy. Whilst the majority of the cast for Superman: Legacy is in place, we have yet to hear any confirmation that Russell has been tapped to portray Jor-El the father of Superman. However, Russell certainly appears keen in a recent interview with ComicBook.Com.
“Yeah! Yeah, I’ll take on Marlon Brando!” Russell said with a laugh, referencing Richard Donner’s classic Superman: The Movie. “I mean there was something awesome about the way he was just looking around – I don’t care that he was looking at his lines – he’s crazy-great to watch!”
“You know what: we don’t know a lot about Jor-El. Maybe there’s a version…” he continued before trailing off. “I never heard this, so I don’t know. James Gunn was a blast to work with, though, so you never know.”
As you can see below the outlet in question seems to think Russell is kinda confirming this role. I don’t see that myself, but he definitely appears to be willing to discuss it. Has he already been signed up and just not talking? Well, with almost every other cast member made official, there appears no reason to maintain secrecy with Jor-El. Perhaps the pair have spoken but no deal has yet been agreed?

Then again, it was reported by trades that Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Lex Luthor and that remains to be confirmed by James Gunn officially. All the other casting Gunn was quick to confirm. Yet, if the story was wrong, one would assume Gunn would have said so also, so perhaps his silence is confirmation enough?
So would Kurt Russell be good as Jor-El? You bet your ass he would, it’s the perfect kind of part for Russell at his age and would be a nice alternate to his villainous turn as Peter Quill’s father Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
