LeBron James Reveals Title And Logo For Space Jam Sequel

Whether or not you believe that LeBron James is currently the best player in the NBA, his talent is cannot be denied. He single-handedly turned around the Cleland Cavaliers franchise which included a championship. Now he is in the bright lights of LA, where he hopes to become immortalized with names like Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and others. A debate that will probably go on forever is how he compares to arguably the greatest player of all time, Michael Jordan. One thing that they will soon also have in common is a film with the Looney Tunes.

Twenty-four years ago Jordan starred in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Space Jam. Next year James is scheduled to star is the sequel to that film. Today via his social media accounts, he revealed the name of the sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy. Along with that he also shared the logo for the film. You can check out the post below!

Space Jam: A New Legacy is being directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It’s based on a script by Ryan Coogler and Sev Ohanian. This will be James’ first starring film role. He will be joined by Don Cheadle and Sonequa Martin-Green in the live-action/animation film. For now not much else is known about the film other than it has a target release date of July 16th, 2021.

1996’s Space Jam showed a retired Jordan, coming back to the game of Basketball to help the Looney Tunes. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the gang needed to win a game of basketball or become slaves to Mr. Swackhammer, voiced by Danny DeVito. He was a sketchy owner of an intergalactic amusement park called Moron Mountain and he was looking to make them an attraction. Unfortunately, the monsters stole the talent of some of the NBA’s best players leaving the Looney Tunes desperate for a ringer.

Space Jam is the highest-grossing basketball film of all time. It brought in about $230 million worldwide. With that said the pressure is on to James to make a film that is on par or better than the player that he is constantly compared to. The first film was fairly simple and even included a couple of scenes with Bill Murray. It will be interesting to see how the Looney Tunes hold up in a film in this day and age.
