Loki Season 2 won’t end on a cliffhanger says exec producer Kevin Wright, but a Season 3 is still possible. It seems there are no definitive plans for Season 3 right now. Howeverc, Wright says there are more stories to tell in that TVA Universe. Speaking with Deadline recently, Wright got into ‘what comes next’ territory for Loki.
Asked if Loki will be a show that leads into the big movies coming up, Wright remained coy.
“Nothing that I could say in the near future. The implications will ripple into other projects, though, certainly, and the TVA is an organization that will continue to have stories to tell, which is one of the exciting things about it to us.”
Wright explains that there is no 5 season arc here. They take the series season by season. Although Season 2 is the end of the book that began in Season 1.
“We take it season by season, and there are certainly things that Tom and I and other casts have talked about of where we see this going, and I know there’s some excitement for that internally, but just from a storytelling standpoint, I think we always conceived of seasons 1 and 2 as a whole. That these are two chapters of the same book, and that season two is finishing that book, and there are other stories to be told there, but I think they would be new books, if that’s not too coy.”

With that in mind, Wright says don’t expect a cliffhanger at the end of Season 2. However, he still hopes the finale will shock and excite the fans.
“I hope so, but what I will say is it’s not a cliffhanger. We want to be able to deliver real fulfillment in what we’re doing, but I do think it’ll be exciting and unexpected and everything people like about this show.”
So far I’ve only seen Episode 1 of Loki Season 2. However, Loki Season 1, and so far Season 2 are about the best things Marvel has done on the TV format and I doubt either season are massively budgeted. Most of the episodes take place in a pretty basic set with green screen or some ordinary location shots. In other words this is exactly the kind of content we should be getting from Marvel on Disney +. Not the globe trotting CGI mess that was Secret Invasion costing as much as a movie.
What do you think of Wright’s comments that Loki Season 2 won’t end on a cliffhanger? What about his comments that a Loki Season 3 is still possible? Thoughts below as always.
