Luca Guadagnino Will Direct The Scarface Reboot

The long in the works Scarface remake has found it’s a director in Oscar nominee Luca Guadagnino. I’m not familiar with Guadagnino, but after taking a quick look at his IMDb page, this seems an unusual choice. Though it isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just that this isn’t the sandbox he usually finds himself playing in.

However, seeing that he was nominated for an Academy Award I would deem it a safe bet that Guadagninohas the talents to adapt. According to /Film, the last work on the film’s script was put down by the Coen brothers, which both confuses and excites me. It’s unclear if Guadagnino will use the Coen’s script, or elect to start from scratch.

I think the 1983 film that starred Al Pacino is great. A classic for sure, but I’ve heard a few people put it up around The Godfather. And while everyone is entitled to their opinion, they are wrong. It’s a really good film, and a wonderful piece of cinema, a solid 7.8-8.0/10 for sure. Ok so now I can’t get the idea of a Coen brothers Scarface out of my head now. Nothing against Guadagnino, but part of me wishes they would have been brought on to direct as well. .
