Many people have watched the trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story and, after seeing Donald Glover as the very classy Lando Calrissian, wished they were getting Lando: A Star Wars Story instead. I have seen Solo: A Star Wars Story (review coming “soon”), and loved it, but I hunger for a Lando film over a sequel to Solo (though I also want a sequel to Solo).
Lucasfilm studio chief Kathleen Kennedy spoke to Premiere France, where she said:
“We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.”
Since this initial quote, Lucasfilm reached out to Premiere to clarify that Star Wars is interested in making a Lando movie when “it’s relevant.” Not before another Han and Chewie movie.
Well, it sure feels relevant now.

There is actually a lot to mine in the time period and I personally thought the worlds, story, and fairly strong performances of classic characters from Solo: A Star Wars Story could carry into its own trilogy. And we’ve heard from Alden Ehrenreich that he has a three film deal. So, why not have the next film be from Lando’s point of view, but include Solo and Chewie? Just a thought. Solo either leaves breadcrumbs for a sequel or is meant to tie in somewhere else in the Star Wars extended universe.
