Ludwig Göransson will score Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This is hardly a surprise given how popular and acclaimed Göransson’s score for Black Panther was. However the composer confirmed the news himself recently during a chat with Variety.
Göransson, who is currently finishing his score for the Disney-Pixar film “Turning Red,” says he will be composing the score for “Black Panther II: Wakanda Forever,” which Coogler has begun shooting. “I’m starting conceptual ideas and having conversations with Ryan,” he says.
Göransson, a longtime collaborator with director Ryan Coogler (dating back to their student days), spent a month in West Africa researching music for Black Panther. What he came up with was both unique and very much based on African culture. Let’s face it, Black Panther‘s score was amazing and everyone wanted Göransson back for the sequel.

Though, if rumors are true perhaps Göransson will have another culture to think about? Wakanda Forever is heavily rumored to be the introduction of Namor and Atlantis in the MCU. One would expect the themes of Atlantis would be very different from that of Wakanda. It’ll be interesting to see what Göransson does, if these rumors are true. Though, I’m pretty confident there’s too much smoke for there to be no fire here.
Frankly if these rumors are true it makes me more looking forward to seeing Wakanda Forever. I liked Black Panther, but there’s no way I felt it was Oscar worthy. In fact it’s not even my favorite MCU top ten. Clashing Wakanda with a civilization as powerful and advanced, yet alien as Atlantis just sounds like drama, and good drama makes good stories.
What do you think of the news Ludwig Göransson will score Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? Thoughts below as always.
