Will there be a Luke Skywalker recast for Star Wars? After Luke appeared de-aged in The Mandalorian, fans have pretty United in the fact they want more of Luke. However, that de-ageing tech wasn’t exactly brilliant. This has prompted discussion amongst fans about whether Luke Skywalker should be recast?

Most fans seem to favor a recast more for a very simple reason. A recast means more Luke Skywalker. Without a recast, it seems unlikely we will see much of Luke in the future. However, the fact that Lucasfilm did not recast Luke for The Mandalorian made most fans think the role of Luke will not be recast.

Could things have changed due to the fan reactions? It’s possible, and according to insider Daniel Richtman that’s exactly what has happened. Richtman says this on his latest Patreon.

“Lucasfilm changed their minds. While they still want a de-aged Mark Hamill for cameos, they decided with Hamill’s approval to cast Sebastian Stan in the role of young Luke for longer role in future projects.”

Now we have probably all heard the Sebastian Stan fan casting before. Stan seems to be the fan favorite if Luke Skywalker was ever recast. It is possible that Lucasfilm has noted the fan reactions and decided that a Luke Skywalker show would be a gold mine. But is this all too good to be true? Considering how advanced Lucasfilm’s current plans are, I have a hard time buying they’d have cast Stan, so quickly? I also have to point out that despite Richtman’s MCU hit rate for scoops being great, his Star Wars hit rate isn’t nearly as good.

I’m not saying I don’t trust Richtman as a source. I just feel more comfortable doing so with Marvel as opposed to Star Wars. I will attempt to try and get some information on this one from LRM’s own source at Lucasfilm. However, there is no guarantee that they will have this information, or be willing to share it with us currently? I guess we will have to wait and see.
