Marvel Celebrates Pride Month With X-Men: The Wedding Special

In a move celebrating both Pride Month and mutantkind, Marvel Comics is set to release a one-shot anthology titled X-Men: The Wedding Special #1 on May 29. This Marvel celebration of LGBTQIA+ will showcase the marriage of Mystique and Destiny, marking Marvel’s first woman-to-woman wedding in comic book history.

The special issue, curated by X-Men mastermind Kieron Gillen and illustrated by acclaimed artist Rachael Stott, delves into the intricate relationship between Mystique and Destiny, two characters who have played roles in shaping the fate of mutantkind for decades. As the Krakoan Age unfolds, the resurrection of Destiny has paved the way for a renewed focus on their enduring love.

“X-Men: The Wedding Special #1 will be a wedding extravaganza with multiple stories all centered around a single night that will go down in mutant history,” promises Gillen.

Among the tales featured in the special issue is a captivating adventure starring Betsy Braddock and Rachel Summers, penned by Excalibur scribe Tini Howard. The story pits the couple against the Omniversal Majestrix, Opal Luna Saturnyne, in a narrative that explores themes of love and duty.

The anthology also features Mystique and Destiny seeking pre-marriage counseling from Emma Frost, offering readers a glimpse into the complexities of their relationship.
