In two separate interviews Sam Raimi confirms he’s not working on any Marvel films right now, but he is keen if asked to again. Raimi of course most recently directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and has been tipped to come back. Some rumors have said Raimi is in the running to direct Secret Wars, others that he’ll make Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire. Maguire claims to not know anything about these rumors, but he would like to make another Marvel movie if asked back.
We’ll start with Raimi saying he knows nothing about a Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire.
“Well, I haven’t heard about that yet,” Raimi said in an interview with CBR during WonderCon about the rumors. “I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!’”
“I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it.”
“I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures,” Raimi continued. “But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”

Also speaking at WonderCon, but this time to ScreenGeek Rami added that he’s not working on any project for Marvel, yet.
“I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”
So if we take Raimi at his word, he has not been asked to direct Secret Wars or any other movie. However, that of course does not mean he is not in the running for future projects.
