As per the title, Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio wouldn’t wrestle Big Show for the Kingpin role. Let’s go back a few steps. Wrestler turned actor The Big Show (Connor Casey) has said he wants to play Kingpin in the MCU. It would be fair to say that Big Show has the size to play Kingpin, but there is one problem. Whilst currently cancelled, Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio is still officially Kingpin in the MCU, for now. Marvel Studios could decide to recast all the Netflix roles, in which case maybe Casey has a chance?
So what does Vincent D’Onofrio think of Big Show trying to muscle in on the Kingpin role? The actor recently spoke with ComicBook.com and he’s certainly not going to fight the big man for it.
“No, I wouldn’t wrestle that guy, I’ve seen the picture of him and stuff, so no, I would not wrestle with him because I would lose that and then lose the character. I think I would just say this, that I believe in actors and I believe an actor should have a shot at whatever they want to try and do, that’s what I think. If that guy wants to play Kingpin, then f-cking go after Kingpin, give it your all, that’s what I would say. That’s what I would hope he would say to me too. I mean, I think it’s awesome that he’s even saying the things he’s saying, I think it’s ambitious and it’s good attitude to have.”

What’s heartening to me, is that D’ Onofrio still seems to have enthusiasm to continue as Kingpin. In my honest opinion, outside of Thanos, D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was Marvel’s best villain to date. So from this fans point of view, and nothing against Casey, I want to see D’Onofrio continue as Kingpin. I’m not sure if that can happen or not? Will Marvel Studios keep the Netflix Defenders as canon, or will they reboot? Again, this is just my opinion, but I can’t see how Marvel Studios could improve much upon Daredevil. Even if no one else comes back from Daredevil (which would be a shame), I still think there’s room for Kingpin in the MCU.
If Kingpin does come back to the MCU, then anyone other than D’Onofrio will feel like fans have been short changed. What do you think of this story, should D’Onofrio wrestle Big Show for the Kingpin role? Would you be interested in seeing Big Show as Kingpin at all? Leave your thoughts below.
