Marvel Offers Sentry Role To Austin Abrams In Thunderbolts | Barside Buzz

At CinemaCon this last week Kevin Feige confirmed that the title of Thunderbolts is now Thunderbolts* though never explained why.

According to the latest Barside Buzz Marvel offers the Sentry role to Austin Abrams for Thunderbolts movie. It was only recently that actor Steven Yeun dropped out of the role due to scheduling conflicts. The report comes from Daniel RPK on social media.

I’ve not seen Euphoria, so have no comment on Abrams as an actor. I hear good things though. Looks wise you’d probably say Abrams matches what we’d expect from Sentry based on the comic book character. However, I also think Yeun would have done a good job in the role.

I also doubt Sentry is going to end up being a main Avenger. Yeun may have the star power for that, but does Abrams? Equally Sentry is so overpowered even Marvel found ways in the comics to keep him sidelined until they wanted him. Therefore I could see this being a one and done. Or, given how many Marvel characters have been introduced and then ignored recently, maybe they’ll just ignore him?

Since the report from RPK a few other insiders have come out to back this piece of news. No one is saying Abrams has signed, but as you can see, the claim is Marvel have moved quickly and made him an offer. Time is of the essence as Thunderbolts is supposed to start filming this year. Additionally it seems Yeun really did drop at the last minute and Marvel has had to scramble to replace him for the shoot.

I guess it may not be too long before we get this casting confirmed. Rumors are that Thunderbolts could/should start filming around March.

What do you think of the rumors as Marvel reportedly offers the Sentry role to Austin Abrams for Thunderbolts movie? Thoughts below as always.
