Marvel Producer Hints At Loki And Falcon Season 2

The Falcon Ad The Winter Soldier

Marvel has given the first real indication that we could be getting Loki and Falcon season 2. Of course, by Falcon I mean The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, though does anyone really expect that name to stay? Most fans agree that Season two of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier would need a different title. Ages ago I suggested Captain America and The White Wolf, and I haven’t seen one better yet.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been Emmy nominated as as drama series, Whereas, WandaVision was entered as a limited series. That’s a pretty clear indication that one will have a Season 2 and one will not. Having watched WandaVision it really would not work to have a Season 2, it was a one-off thing. However, the further adventures of Captain America and his friend The White Wolf, that’s got legs. Talking with IndieWire recently, Marvel producer Nate Moore talked about the category decisions for both shows. And as much as confirmed my own points about WandaVision above. As for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier?

“[The decision] came about sort of as the series was launching, but it was something we were thinking about even as we were making it — not because we think, ‘Oh my God, it’s so great,’ but because it does feel a bit more dramatic than some of our typical stuff,” Moore said. “As this is sort of our first foray into television, even if it’s Disney+, we thought [the category placement] was appropriate for what the show is trying to tackle.”

Moore didn’t directly say there would be a season 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier though.

“We’ve definitely kicked around ideas because we always like to keep thinking about where things can go, but we also, frankly, in the crush of the pandemic, we’re just trying to finish the show and make sure it got out in a timely matter,” he said. “Hopefully at the end of this season, you will see the potential for what we could tell in a subsequent season.”

What this tells me, is that the plans have been discussed, the ideas begun to percolate on where Sam and Bucky could go next. However Season 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is not yet in active development. It would make far more sense to discuss what comes next after the finale airs this Friday. However, it’s clear that Marvel wants the opportunity for a Season 2, even if they don’t use it.

LOKI

Loki and Mobius

As for Loki, there was always the hints that this could be a multiple season show. Now we know that appears to be the case. Moore in the same interview was talking about shows which could possibly get a season 2 and mentioned Loki as an example.

“The one that comes to mind — and that probably isn’t a secret — I think there’s a lot of storytelling in ‘Loki’ that’s really irreverent and clever and cool, but also lends itself to multiple seasons in a way where it’s not a one-off,” Moore said. “Tom Hiddleston, I think, is doing some of his best work on that show. It really is kind of amazing. I think of all the great stuff he’s done, but this show is going to show such different sides and really the true scope of his range. I think that show is going to surprise a lot of people.”

There you have it. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier might get a second season if Marvel presses go. However, Loki most definitely will be getting multiple seasons.

Share any thoughts you have about Loki and Falcon Season 2. Would you want a second series of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? If so, do you agree with me about renaming it to Captain America and The White Wolf? Thoughts below as always.
