Marvel Comics has unveiled new story details for October’s DNX crossover, raising the stakes as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four continue their desperate battle against the mysterious organization known as 3K.
The event expands this October across DNX #3, Fantastic Four #18, and X-Men #39 and #40, with multiple storylines converging as heroes fight to stop the release of the deadly X-Virus and prevent a dark future from becoming reality.
At the center of the event is DNX #3, where 3K launches a devastating counterattack against the X-Men. As Philadelphia hangs on the brink of catastrophe, Cyclops’ team races to stop the Chairman’s latest plan while the Fantastic Four battle against time to deliver information that could save both mutants and humanity.

Writer Jed MacKay says that while DNX delivers large-scale action, the event also takes time to spotlight several of its supporting characters.
“In all the high drama and high action of DNX, we’re also taking the time to zoom in on more personal moments,” MacKay explained. “X-Men #39 sees John Greycrow, resolutely NOT an X-Man, having to step up, while #40 explores Psylocke’s attitudes toward life and death—and when to make the choice between them.”

Those personal stories become key pieces of the larger crossover.
In X-Men #39, the mutant team’s Alaska headquarters, known as the Factory, comes under attack while most of the X-Men are away battling 3K. With few defenders remaining, John Greycrow finds himself standing alone against the invading forces.
The following issue shifts the focus to Psylocke as she embarks on a dangerous solo mission aboard what may become her own flying tomb. Hunting a mysterious creature in search of answers, she instead uncovers revelations that could reshape the larger conflict.
Meanwhile, Fantastic Four #18 places Marvel’s First Family in an unusual predicament. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm have completely lost their memories, including their understanding of their own superpowers. As they struggle to rediscover who they are, they must also rescue Magneto before it’s too late.
Fantastic Four writer Ryan North says the issue serves as both an important chapter in DNX and a standalone adventure for readers following the team’s monthly series.
“This is a really fun conclusion to a two-parter which, while obviously acting as an important part of DNX, also stands on its own as a Fantastic Four story,” North said. “Jed has been a delight to work with, and we have commiserated over the challenge of writing Beast and Mr. Fantastic in the same room. It’s hard enough writing one smart guy, but two?”
Marvel has also released the main covers for DNX #3, Fantastic Four #18, and X-Men #39 and #40, offering fans a preview of the next chapter in the publisher’s latest mutant event.
The crossover officially begins this September with DNX #1, including special True Believers Blind Bags featuring exclusive collectible covers unavailable through standard editions. Marvel has indicated that additional story details and cover reveals will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
