Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Doesn’t Want Fans To Trust Them

“In Feige we trust.” That’s a statement many of us have said in regards to what the future holds for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There may be some aspects of its future many of us are unsure of, including the Disney+ series, and very often, the conversation heads back to “In Feige we Trust.”

After all, we’ve had more than a decade of storytelling under his watch, the studio has proven more than capable of pleasing both mainstream and hardcore fans. However, Kevin Feige himself doesn’t think we should just allow the studio to rest on its laurels.

“Now, and I don’t know if this makes me any more comfortable,” Feige said while speaking at the New York Film Academy. “They say, ‘Oh, I don’t know who that is, but I trust them.’ I’m like, don’t trust us. We have to prove it. We have to work to prove it to you.”

I’m sure many fans will appreciate this perspective, as it means the studio won’t rely on their brand name to sell their movies. Hopefully, this means they continue to write stories that appeal to the masses, in addition to the hardcore fans, and not expect people to “just get it” because of the trust they’ve created.
