Matt Reeves Description Of HBO Max’s The Batman Prequel’s Main Character Is Frightening

Reaction To Test Screening Of The Batman Is Positive

Well, after a long, long wait, fans finally received a trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. And I must say I was very impressed. This young, inexperienced, and incredibly brutal version of the character appears to be one that will grow into the more level-headed Batman that we’re used to watching.

Many of you may already be well aware that there will be a prequel series to The Batman on HBO Max. The series, Gotham P.D. was announced in July. Over the weekend at DC’s FanDome it was revealed that the series will essentially be Batman: Year One, while the upcoming film starring Robert Pattinson will be Batman: Year Two. The series, titled Gotham P.D will go back to the beginning of corruption in Gotham City. The main character is a dirty cop whose struggles are described by Reeves below.

“The story is actually a battle for his soul.”

This isn’t the first batman prequel series, as Fox’s Gotham showed us a Gotham City without a Caped Crusader. I enjoyed that series for the most part, even though I was initially skeptical of how a Batmanless series about Gotham City would work. While the show crossed the line of camp and goofiness, it did have its moments. The show also had what is arguably (and my favorite version ) of iconic Batman villain Oswald Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin.

Now with a prequel to what looks like an incredibly dark Batman film set to air on HBOMax, things are going to get ugly, in a good way. It seems like DC has really found their stride, and hopefully, they continue on this exciting path.
