Wait, Sinbad is joining Shazam! Fury of the Gods?

Apparently, there’s been a long debate on the internet. Some people seem to think that, once upon a time, the actor Sinbad played a genie in a film titled Shazam!. I don’t know about you, but the only thing remotely close to that is a film called Kazaam, and that movie starred Shaquille O’Neal. But I guess there are some fans who swear by the fact that Sinbad still played a genie at some point in a film called Shazam!.

And what better way to play into that Mandel Effect snafu than casting Sinbad in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The film’s title was officially revealed during the DC FanDome, and in it, we also got an unexpected visit from Sinbad himself.

“I’m going to work right now to rectify the situation once and for all with a big, prominent role in Shazam! 2,” Sinbad said on the panel.

So…does that mean Sinbad will actually be joining Shazam! Fury of the Gods? Honestly, no one really seems to know. If this was their attempt at an official announcement, it seems to have confused a lot more people than they’d hoped. Then again, this is Shazam! we are talking about, and given how fun the franchise is, I don’t see any problems with a fourth-wall-breaking tongue-in-cheek joke.

Either way, even if Sinbad isn’t in the film, he seemed to be playing it off like he was, based on a follow-up tweet.
