No, Matt Reeves is not leaving The Batman. Just another rumor. Or, was there ever a rumor at all? Allow me to explain.
Yesterday, The Wrap shared a story debunking a rumor they claimed was started by John Campea in a YouTube video.
The Wrap‘s insider said that the rumor that Matt Reeves was leaving The Batman shared by Campea was not true:
“Not true. He is writing away.”
The Wrap said they reached out to Campea for comment on their story, and this is where it gets interesting:
So @TheWrap says they tried to "reach" me for comment. Here is the exact text they sent me. Notice the only thing they asked me is… Is Reeves leaving Batman? Something I never said. A hugely busy day so I hadn't responded yet… so they ran a story anyway. #Journalism pic.twitter.com/iuYT2ES22U

That’s right, Campea strikes back, showing his lack of exchange with The Wrap and claiming he never said Reeves was leaving The Batman in the first place.
Just another example of how rumors, or even a lack there of, can lead to misinformation that gets reported as news. I don’t think I can count the numbers of articles I have written with Shazam! director David F. Sandberg debunking rumors he was fired or the project was canceled that originated on Reddit. Chris McKay too has responded to rumor after rumor that Nightwing was canceled.
Unfortuantly, unlike Marvel Studios, DC is not at all clear with their slate, allowing rumors like this to run rampent. Perhaps if they gave us an updated release date calander, it would help dispell these rumors before they spread?
What do you think of the constant DC rumor mill? Is it all bulls–t, or do you think there is truth to some of these? Let us know in the comment section below!
