Whenever you reboot Batman, it’s an unwritten rule that you MUST show his origin story. In other words, you MUST show Thomas and Martha Wayne get shot outside a theater. For this reason, we’ve seen the pair die more times on the big screen than Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow (okay, maybe not that many times). With this in mind, there were some fans who were worried we’d be seeing his origins yet again in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
According to a new report from THR, which chronicled the hiring of Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film, we will NOT be seeing Batman’s first outings. The film will be following him at around 30 years old — so he won’t be a seasoned vet either, but rather someone in between the two extremes, where he’ll be trying to find his way to becoming the man we know him today.

This pretty much falls exactly in line with what we’ve heard in the past. And it makes sense. We’ve seen both of these takes on the Caped Crusaders relatively recently, but we really haven’t had a version of the character that is still in the throes of his typical vigilantism — not really since some of the Batman films of the ’90s.
