Max Borenstein has been a fixture in this Monsterverse setting since its conception.
With its beginnings with the Godzilla reboot in 2014, Legendary Entertainment brought Borenstein on board for every giant titan monster film in one way or another. With Godzilla vs. Kong premiering in theaters and HBO Max this week, it doesn’t appear the franchise is slowing down anytime soon.
LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with the screenwriter of all Monsterverse movies. He started with the screenplay with Godzilla. Also, he contributed to Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. No doubt, he is the go-to guy for the franchise.
In the latest installment from director Adam Wingard, the chapter pits two of the greatest titans against each other with Godzilla and King Kong. The world hangs in the balance as humanity seeks an alternate solution with newfound secrets found beneath the Earth and new technology.
The cast of Godzilla vs. Kong includes Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gonzalez, Julian Dennison, Lance Reddick, Kyle Chandler, Demian Bichir, and Kaylee Hottle.
Borenstein co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Pearson based on the original story from Terry Rossio, Michael Dougherty, and Zach Shields.

During the LRM Online’s long discussion, we talked about the fruition of the gigantic combat with Godzilla and King Kong, other titans in consideration, and perhaps introducing extraterrestrial titans into the mix.
Max Borenstein wrote his first movie with 2003’s Swordswallowers and Thin Men, in which he made his directorial feature film debut. In 2014, he joined the Monsterverse franchise with Godzilla and stamped his place in franchise history. On the television side, he wrote episodes for Minority Report, The Terror, and currently working on the untitled television series about the Los Angeles Lakers.
Godzilla vs. Kong is out in select theaters and streams on HBO Max starting this Wednesday, March 31.
