If you look around your house in old boxes, there’s a decent chance you may find a game piece from McDonald’s Monopoly game from a couple of decades ago. We all thought we had a chance of winning, albeit a slim chance but since we were patronizing the establishment anyway, there was no reason not to play.
As it turns out, the game was rigged, as in actually rigged by a former police officer known as “Uncle Jerry,” who was snagging the good pieces and selling them off. A new documentary from HBO (which will also soon be a feature film) lays it all out and you can watch the trailer for McMillions at the top of the article.

The scandal was overshadowed by none other than the September 11 attacks in 2001, as the trial began the day before. I enjoy content such as this, and will surely be checking this out. I’m sure we all won a few free Big Macs

For over a decade, McDonald’s awarded prizes in its Monopoly promotional game tie-in, unaware that the winning tickets for prizes worth $25,000 and up were being stolen and sold to undeserving winners.
