MCU And Sony Movies To Merge But In What Capacity? | Barside Buzz

Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Rumored To Return In SPOILER | Barside Buzz

Are the MCU and Sony movies to merge together after No Way Home? Obviously by Sony movies I’m specifically referring to Sony’s Marvel movies, not Ghostbusters: Afterlife. There are some intriguing hints towards this possibility. To begin with we have Morbius which although delayed, we know features Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes. That’s a solid connection to the MCU right there. Then, we have the rumor, which I think is a bit more than a rumor at this point about Sony’s older Spider-Man movies. Obviously I’m referring to the rumors about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire showing up in No Way Home. We already know that both Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are in, with Willem Dafoe also heavily rumored.

Now we have the story that all Sony movies are going to end up on Disney+, though after an initial VoD release plan on Netflix. You can find that report in the related section below. However today we share some comments from KC Walsh of The GWW on Twitter. Walsh seems to be suggesting that the plan is indeed to merge all these properties together. Check it out.

There are also appears to be more than one rumor saying that Morbius, despite releasing after No Way Home now, will have some set up for that movie within it. Things is, unless all the rumors are wrong, I find it hard to argue against this view? If Morbius does connect to the MCU in the ways we think, then it’s an MCU movie. Surely it won’t be long before Venom also finds his way into the MCU proper?

If the rumors about No Way Home are all true then again, despite not being set in the same Universe, those movies will become a sort of MCU canon in themselves, because the stories will continue in the MCU. Even if the Multiverse is finished after Multiverse of Madness for now, this still gives Sony opportunities. Sony could decide to continue the story of either Garfield or Maguire’s Spidey in their own movies?

Would you like or hate for the MCU and Sony movies to merge together? Does it all depend on hos this is executed, or will Sony just dilute the MCU with their less capable filmmakers? Is there some new deal for Marvel to take a more creative role in all Sony Marvel properties? Good questions I don’t have the answer to, but something is happening. Let us know below as always.
