Meet The Creatures Of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves In New Featurette

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES

We are a little over a month away from the release of Paramount Pictures’ Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. For those of us who have played the fantasy tabletop role-playing game, it will be exciting to see some classic weapons and creatures come to life on the big screen.

To get us ready for those creatures, especially if you’re not familiar with them, Paramount Pictures has released a new featurette that gives you a quick look at some of the unique creatures of the Dungeons & Dragons world.

Aquainted yet? While the standard gameplay of Dungeons & Dragons features these creatures, it’s also so much for when Dungeon Masters create their own. But that is a conversation for another day. Let’s briefly go over some of the creatures highlighted in the clip above that will be featured in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with the help of D&D Beyond.

OWLBEAR

A monstrous cross between a giant owl and a bear. An owlbear’s reputation for ferocity and aggression makes it one of the most feared predators of the wild. It has keen sight and smell and it can attack with its massive claws and beak.

MIMIC

This is a monster that has the ability to change the shape of its body into an inanimate object. Often seen as a chest because looters will often not think twice in trying to open them and take whatever is inside. Unfortunately, the Mimic adheres to anything that touches it making it easier to attack its prey.

GELATINOUS CUBE

Yes, this is actually a monster and believe it or not it’s not the weirdest thing you could run into. Its described as a 10ft. cube of transparent gelatinous ooze. It is able to absorb and digest organic matter. Don’t get stuck.

DISPLACER BEAST

This kitty is terrifying! Described as a cat-like creature like a panther or puma that has six legs. It is also complimented with a pair of five-foot-long tentacles with sharp spikey ends that come out of its shoulders. These massive beasts are usually an average of nine feet long! If their physical looks weren’t enough they have the ability to bend light and not give away their actual position.

INTELLECT DEVOURER

Basically a brain with legs (four of them and they have claws). This monster feeds on the intelligence of sentient creatures, taking over a victim’s body on behalf of its mind flyer masters. They then use them as puppets to try and lure others.

THEMBERCHAUD THE RED DRAGON

This is a massive red dragon that is overweight. He is described as being very prideful and vain. His ego was big enough that he considered it impossible for anyone not to agree with him. If they didn’t he just burned them to a crisp.

These are just a few of the creatures that our lovely group will be coming face to face with in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Here is the synopsis for the film provided by Paramount Pictures

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.

We roll for initiative on March 31.
