The Bay Harbor Butcher is back. Michael C. Hall is reprising his role as television’s most likable serial killer, Dexter Morgan. The new season will consist of 10 episodes and is set to air on Showtime.
Gary Levine Showtime president of entertainment had the following to say in a statement.
“We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”

As Levine pointed out above showrunner Clyde Phillips is also returning. Phillips was writing and/or producing during all eight seasons.
A twisted premise that had viewers rooting for a vengeful vigilante that does his best to aim his, issues, toward only those that, according to the code given to him by his father Harry, deserved it. Dexter was a fantastic show for a time. However, toward the end of its run, the series left many fans disappointed, particularly Season 8 and the series finale that showed us Dexter had become a Bob the Builder celebrity impersonator. Or some sort of male exotic dancer with a lumberjack theme.
I think Season 4, with John Lithgow just knocking it out of the park as the Trinity Killer is the best season. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that, it’s nearly a consensus. All-in-all, this is awesome news. The show is great and even with the subpar last to seasons (some fans draw the line after Season 4) I still recommend it to those who haven’t watched it.
They should call the show The New Adventures of Dexter Morgan, or Dexter Morgan: Here I Go Killing Again!.
