While we have heard from most of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy regarding the James Gunn situation, we have yet to hear from the actor that plays Yondu in the movie, Michael Rooker. That all changed when the actor attended the Walker Stalker event in Atlanta and while there was asked his thoughts on Gunn being fired from the franchise for inappropriate tweets.
“It’s terrible, isn’t it? Yeah, but oh well, guess what? He’s on a gig already. Suicide Squad, that’s right. He’s writing it and directing it as well.”

Rooker is of course correct, Gunn has once again been hired to work on a superhero movie, but wow, talk about going from the best of the best to the absolute bottom, that’s rough. While I thought Gunn’s comments were weird, I don’t think he should have been fired though, but then again, it’s not my company. Hopefully Gunn can redeem the Suicide Squad franchise and himself in the process.
With Marvel is still planning to use Gunn’s script for Guardians Vol. 3, so one good thing is that the trilogy should finish out on a high note and keep the same tone as the first two entries.
